Fron Cottage

Just off the Mountain Road to Aberystwyth and a stone’s throw from the Elan Valley and its reservoirs, is where you will find Fron Cottage.

Fron Cottage will be available as self-catering holiday accommodation by the summer of 2016.  The cottage looks out onto a stream and fields and in the Spring the bank opposite is covered in bluebells.  Within the grounds is the site of a mill known as Fron Factory. It is hard to believe that a 14-foot mill wheel drove carding mill machinery in such a tranquil setting.

The house, after being uninhabited for 15 years, is in the final stages of a complete transformation. The roof, despite its quirky character, was not water tight and had to go. The builders took lots of photographs and have rebuilt the chimneys exactly as they were – minus the trees that were growing inside them! The windows have been renewed and the boarded ceilings and wooden floors, although new, are as the original features.  There will be contemporary feel to this early 19th century home.

We have added a sun room with expansive views of the valley and stream. Each of the three double bedrooms have en-suite facilities, two include a shower. The cottage will sleep 6 comfortably, with the option of additional pull out bed for an extra person.

As with all building renovation projects, there is a period when everything looks pretty rough and messed about, so photographs of the finished rooms will be added soon. In the meantime the images below give a flavour of the place.

If you are interested in finding out more about the cottage, please give us a call or email.
